Features
SXGA Resolution and 6x Optical Zoom with Superior, Crisp Image Quality
Showing
objects, books or experiments on a big screen improves the ability of
students to concentrate on the materials and enhance visibility for
students sitting in the back row or behind a taller classmate. With
SXGA image output (1280 x 1024), including XGA (1024 x 768) and WXGA
(1280 x 800), the ladibug DC166 delivers superior image quality. The
SXGA resolution of the ladibug DC166 deliver 66 percent more detail
than cameras with XGA resolution. Books with small fonts, as small as
eight or even six point type, can be read clearly on a screen or
monitor. The power lens provides 6x optical zoom, while Auto Focus
automatically sharpens the image with a click of a button. Both
features assure that every single detail of an item, such as the
structure of a dollar note, fabrics or feathers of a peacock, is caught.
Present the Best Pictures Regardless of Classroom Lighting
A
lot of teachers know the classic classroom dilemma of “lights on or
off?” caused when the camera demands a well-lit document while the
projector requires a dimly lit setting. To avoid this, the DC166
automatically adjusts to the room’s lighting. The DC166 comes with a
lamp and camera, mounted on goosenecks, to provide a clear image even
in dimly lit environments, and eliminating dark areas, glare or burn
spots on the image. The teacher can easily adjust the gooseneck lamp to
show an object fully, or focus on special cutouts or specific areas.
The lamp can even be switched off when less light is needed.
Auto Tune and Auto Focus for Best Possible Image Quality
With
Lumens’ unique “Auto Tune” function, the DC166 adjusts for best
possible image by automatically tuning brightness, contrast, color
balance, exposure and focus. In addition, the focus button conveniently
located on the camera head lets the teacher easily adjust the camera
head position and adjust focus with a single movement.
Easy to Use
Like all Lumens document cameras, the DC166
has been designed with ease of use in mind. Any feature can be started
or stopped with the click of a button. The remote control, as well as
the unit’s physical design, allows educators to integrate the camera
into their natural teaching style, whether they would rather walk
around the room or stand next to the unit to control it. The camera’s
gooseneck-mounted light and camera solve the problem of a teacher’s
creativity being limited by the capabilities of the equipment and allow
educators to use a broader range of visual examples than ever before.
Flexible Gooseneck Camera for Easy Adjustment The camera,
also mounted on a gooseneck, provides the same maneuverability and
flexibility as the dual lamps. With a quick adjustment, teachers can
show teaching materials from every angle, with the desired illumination
and without restrictions.
Plenty of Internal Memory and Storage With the DC166,
educators can easily capture images – by clicking the capture button –
and automatically store them on the unit’s internal memory. Saved
images can be readily recalled as a slide show or as single images.
In addition to the internal memory which stores 120 images, the DC166
offers an external memory option, allowing users to store additional
images on an SD Card. The DC166 is compatible with SD cards up to 2GB
and SDHC cards up to 32GB. After storing, teachers can recall the
images and videos as often they want. The Flip mode allows users to
rotate images, while Lumens queue™ software lets them to make
annotations on the images.
Stand-Alone Video Recording Educators can record videos
directly onto an SD card, without a computer or extra software, by
simply pressing the record button on the remote. Videos are
automatically stored on the SD card and can be played back as often as
necessary.
Record Videos, Capture Images and Annotate with queue™ software
The Lumens queue™ software supports both the Microsoft Windows® and Mac
OSX platforms. With the queue software, teachers can easily record
videos and capture images to save as files on the hard drive. In
addition, teachers can add annotations directly onto live or saved
images. Live images with annotations can be saved with the push of a
button.
Slide Show capabilities and Lumens FastSlide™ Technology
After capturing and storing images onto the DC166 internal memory,
teachers can choose to display desired images (or all available images)
as a slide show. This feature can be stopped or started by pressing the
“Slide Show” button. With Lumens FastSlide™ technology, the DC166
features industry-best slide loading speed – up to 300 slides per
minute. Educators can be assured that they will capture students’
attention without losing valuable teaching time to slides loading.
The five slide show transition effects allow users to quickly and easily create a professional presentation.
Image and Time-lapse Capture Teachers can use the DC166
ladibug as a digital camera to capture still images from materials,
books, and illustrations for playback during class or to document class
activities. The Picture-by-Picture function presents stored images and
live images in a split screen to allow teachers to present images for
before and after comparison.
Time-lapse photography capabilities allow educators to compress time by
capturing images of continuous movement at a pre-set interval. Teachers
can then play back as a slide show and let students observe a flower
opening or a silk worm coming out of its cocoon.
Pan/Book Mode With this feature, teachers can
automatically zoom from full page mode to showing only the top-half or
bottom-half of the page with a click of a button, without
re-positioning the documents.
VGA and USB Connections With a VGA pass-through plus a
VGA output, the DC166 can be connected to an external monitor and a
projector simultaneously. An analog output for television and a USB 2.0
output for PCs, Macs and interactive whiteboards further extend the
connection options.
USB 2.0 High-Speed TWAIN, WIA and Linux Support Support
for USB 2.0, TWAIN and WIA allow the camera to readily function with
interactive white boards and other classroom equipment. The support of
Linux enables educators to connect the camera to Linux applications,
such as Xsane, Skype, and GStreamer.
Dynamic Noise Reduction™ Technology Many DLP projectors
come with a lot of image noise when you connect them to a document
camera. The Lumens Dynamic Noise Reduction™ technology removes image
noise.
Auto Erase and Anti-theft The DC166 offers an automatic
wipe clean option, called Auto Erase, which allows users to choose to
automatically erase internal memory after each use. For schools that
share equipment, this ensures a clean start for each user. The provided
Kensington Lock Slot protects against theft without the inconvenience
of locking equipment away after each use.
Credit Card-Sized Remote Control Lumens’ handy
remote control, which provides access to all of the unit’s most-used
features, gives educators the option of operating the presenter from a
distance if they prefer to walk around the room or need to take care of
students while continuing the lecture.
Five-Year Unlimited Warranty and Advanced Replacement
Lumens is the only manufacturer to offer a five-year unlimited warranty
on the camera as well as all parts and labor. In addition, districts
and teachers can order spare parts in advance during the warranty
period to avoid maintenance hassles.
